Brainstorming: Finding Your Course Idea and Taking Action

Let’s get real: creating your first course is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. Maybe you’re bursting with ideas and don’t know where to start, or maybe you’re starting from scratch and feeling unsure about what to create. Don’t worry... you’re in the right place, and I’m here to guide you through this process. It’s okay to not have it all figured out just yet!

In this lesson, we’ll break down how to take that passion you have... whether it’s teaching math centers, organizing your classroom, or sharing the best teacher hacks, and structure it into a course that makes sense. I’ll help you figure out how to narrow down your ideas, make them specific, and tailor them to the audience you want to serve.

You’ll also learn why it’s important to take a little pressure off yourself. Your first course doesn’t need to be perfect... it just needs to be good. We’ll talk about how structuring your course now can save you from creating something that’s too big or too broad, and I’ll give you some tips for recording a snippet video to get comfortable on camera before you dive into content creation.

Action Step:

• Grab your workbook and use the brainstorming pages to get your ideas down on paper.

• Create a short video snippet to test your camera presence, sound, and how you want to appear on screen. Consider sending it to someone you trust for feedback (you are welcome to send it to me... I'd be happy to check it out and provide feedack).
